25 aprile 1977: nasce “Radio Aut”, la radio della nuova resistenza
La nascita della radio nel racconto di Danilo Sulis
Il 25 aprile 1977 iniziavano, per le vie di Terrasini e Cinisi le prime prove tecniche di trasmissione di Radio Aut. Ecco come Danilo Sulis, un compagno che partecipò attivamente, racconta quei momenti nel suo libro “Da Radio Aut a Radio Cento passi”:
“A Palermo, anche i movimenti politici di sinistra avevano la loro radio. C’erano: Radio Pal, Aria PCI, Manifesto e altri extraparlamentari; Radio Sud e Aria Partito Radicale; Radio Apache, Indiani metropolitani e Radio Casbah, anarchici. Da un folto gruppo proveniente da Radio Pal, che in quel periodo chiudeva, e dalla fusione con le altre, nasceva Radio Sud 103, un’emittente che oggi potrei definire come la prima esperienza in Italia d’unità dei democratici…. fu per questa fusione in Radio Sud 103 che si resero disponibili alcuni trasmettitori. Potei così esaudire il desiderio di Peppino, facendogli avere il più economico in vendita. Era un valvolare militare con il quale aveva trasmesso Radio Casbah, che avendo avuto poca vita, perché bersaglio di un furto, confluì fin dall’inizio in Radio Sud 103. Ma il trasmettitore di Radio Kasbah del mio amico Rosario, che con me conduceva la trasmissione a Radio Sud 103, avendo una potenza di soli dieci watt non rispondeva alle esigenze della nascente Radio Aut. Proposi quindi a Peppino quello di Radio Apache, che appena chiusa si aggiungeva alle altre emittenti confluite in Radio Sud 103. Con la potenza di quaranta watt il segnale arrivava bene a Cinisi e anche lungo la costa
Appena saputo che avevo trovato il trasmettitore, Peppino organizzò subito una serie di riunioni con i compagni di Cinisi a lui più vicini. La prima, per valutare la possibilità dell’acquisto, ma lui aveva già deciso, lo voleva assolutamente. Con l’entusiasmo che sapeva trasmettere, il sì del gruppo fu quindi cosa scontata. Per trovare i soldi si fece una colletta. Reperito il trasmettitore, ricevuto l’assenso del gruppo e raccolti i fondi, ora bisognava trovare la migliore ubicazione. Per questo, insieme a Peppino, feci alcune prove tecniche girando per la zona e i paesi vicini con una macchina fornita di autoradio. Di certo sapevamo che a Cinisi, in quegli anni, non arrivavano altre radio libere e non si riceveva bene neanche la Rai, questo perché il paese si trova in una conca tra le montagne. Siccome l’FM cammina sino a quando non trova ostacoli, alla fine il mio consiglio fu quello di trovare una sede possibilmente vicino aI mare. Così, saremmo potuti arrivare ai paesi lungo la costa, inviando contemporaneamente il segnale a Cinisi con un dipolo dell’antenna orientato verso monte. La sede trovata a Terrasini, due traverse dopo piazza Duomo, come ricordano ancora oggi alcuni partecipanti: “Fu un appartamento al primo piano piccolo e umido, ma dovendo far tornare i conti, non c’era d’avere troppa puzza al naso…..salendo una scala stretta si accedeva a una stanzetta disimpegno con una libreria, a sinistra la stanza della redazione con un balcone, quello che si vede nella foto con l’insegna, da lì si accedeva alla stanza di trasmissione che prendeva luce da una finestra. Intanto le riunioni al circolo per concordare quella che oggi potremmo chiamare “la linea editoriale” proseguirono per alcune settimane partorendo infine il documento “Proposte d’intervento radiofonico”, che così iniziava: “La costituzione di un collettivo politico riteniamo sia la condizione indispensabile per un corretto e democratico uso di Radio Aut e per fare finalmente continuità e organicità al suo funzionamento. Solo a partire da una presenza politico-culturale nel territorio, che sia al tempo stesso proposta di mobilitazione e organizzazione autonoma del sociale (comitati di disoccupati, organismi di lotta dei precari, collettivi femministi, circoli e cooperative culturali ed economiche, associazioni sportive), si può pretendere di costituire un rapporto dialettico tra Ia struttura radiofonica e l’ambiente. Non perdendo di vista le difficoltà che “Musica e cultura” e Radio Aut attraversano, ci sforzeremo di conciliare le indicazioni di carattere generale con l’esigenza di adeguare la ripresa, a breve scadenza, delle trasmissioni, ai livelli di discussione e di produzione che il gruppo esprimerà. Questo a partire dalla convinzione che il processo di trasformazione della struttura sarà lento e travagliato e che l’aderenza alle indicazioni di carattere generale dipenderà esclusivamente dalla capacità del gruppo di assumere le caratteristiche di collettivo politico. Riteniamo che l’uso democratico di una radio si articoli per livelli differenziati e dialetticamente collegati”.
Il passo successivo fu trovare le attrezzature per la regia. Anche quelle usate, erano: due piatti Lenco L75,la piastra di registrazione Supercope, che uguale a quella di Radio Sud, gli prestai io per iniziare le trasmissioni che successivamente fu sostituita con un portatile Sony TC125 SD, tutto collegato al mixer Echo plus 12ch Davoli insieme a un microfono Shure unidyne 515SB. Infine, sintonizzata sui 98,800 MHz per ascoltare il segnale di ritorno, una vecchia radio Phonola degli anni ’50, che probabilmente sarà arrivata dalla casa di qualcuno perché talmente vecchia da essere già in disuso. Quando guardo le foto e quel che conservo di queste attrezzature, mi torna il sorriso, ricordando che non riuscivano mai a stare nello stesso posto. Quasi ogni giorno saltavano dalla radio alle sale dei locali dove Ciccio suonava per matrimoni, battesimi e feste; per poi traghettare al circolo “Musica e cultura” per prove o spettacoli, per finire il tour giornaliero tornando in radio….. Alla fine di aprile del 1977 iniziarono le prove di trasmissione, (la comunicazione d’inizio trasmissioni al prefetto reca la data del 28 aprile). A seguito dell’impegno di alcuni compagni che formarono la redazione, il primo maggio andò in onda il primo notiziario che proseguì per due volte al giorno. Stilare un notiziario in quegli anni non era cosa semplice. Per le radio libere non esistevano fonti d’informazione se non quelle dei quotidiani di cui ci si fidava. Le notizie locali invece si raccoglievano dai collaboratori o andando sul posto. Non esistevano computer e quindi software per scrivere gli articoli e assemblarli per un notiziario. Quando non si usava la penna, l’unica alternativa era la macchina da scrivere.
