Dalle prime ore di questa mattina i finanzieri del Nucleo Speciale di Polizia Valutaria, in collaborazione con il Comando Provinciale di Palermo, stanno dando esecuzione a un’ordinanza di applicazione di misure cautelari personali, emessa dal GIP presso il Tribunale di Palermo su richiesta della locale Direzione Distrettuale Antimafia, nei confronti di 5 persone accusate di concorso esterno in associazione di stampo mafioso, riciclaggio, ricettazione ed estorsione aggravati.
Disposto anche il sequestro di 5 imprese operanti nel settore del commercio dell’oro, di somme di denaro, oro, disponibilità finanziarie, beni mobili registrati, immobili e aziende nella disponibilità di 27 indagati, fino alla concorrenza di circa 5 milioni di euro.
L’attività investigativa – coordinata dalla Direzione Distrettuale Antimafia della Procura della Repubblica di Palermo – condotta attraverso l’approfondimento di segnalazioni di operazioni sospette, corroborate da puntuali riscontri e dalle dichiarazioni di collaboratori di giustizia, avrebbe permesso di raccogliere elementi indiziari circa l’esistenza di un meccanismo di riciclaggio di oro che sarebbe stato messo in atto da una società palermitana.
Sulla base delle direttive impartite dal mandamento mafioso di Porta Nuova a Palermo, avrebbe agito da collettore di grandi quantità di materiale prezioso raccolte nel territorio di riferimento sia da ladri/rapinatori sia dai relativi ricettatori. In definitiva, sarebbe emersa l’esistenza di un sistema illecito che esercitava un capillare controllo sulle attività di riciclaggio e ricettazione dei metalli preziosi di provenienza delittuosa.
La società, che sarebbe stata finanziata sul nascere dall’allora reggente della famiglia mafiosa di Borgo Vecchio, nel triennio 2016-2018, ha dichiarato operazioni di cessione di oro per oltre 2,19 tonnellate, per un controvalore di oltre 75 milioni di euro.
In particolare, in base agli elementi raccolti dalle Fiamme Gialle, sarebbe emerso che, in una prima fase, il metallo prezioso – che sarebbe stato acquistato in totale omissione degli obblighi antiriciclaggio, fiscali e di pubblica sicurezza e con la presunta consapevolezza della sua origine delittuosa (furti e/o rapine) – sarebbe stato sottoposto ad un processo di fusione per essere poi ceduto ad altri operatori del settore sotto forma di lingotti/verghe.
Successivamente, al fine di ridurre i rischi e di dare una parvenza di legalità alle grandi quantità di oro movimentato, i medesimi imprenditori si sarebbero serviti di soggetti esercenti l’attività di “compro oro”, rispetto ai quali sarebbero emersi gravi indizi di reato in ordine all’emissione di false fatture di vendita.
Sono in corso di esecuzione numerose perquisizioni, nei confronti dei soggetti a vario titolo indagati, al fine di reperire ulteriori elementi probatori a supporto delle ipotesi accusatorie formulate
